ARTZ Returns to the Barnes

Patrons look at artworks on the walls of a gallery in the Barnes, line with many artworks hung salon style

From 2014-2018, members of the ARTZ Philadelphia community living with dementia and their care partners were welcomed into the galleries of the Barnes Foundation for monthly, small-group conversations facilitated by ARTZ staff.

Part of our ARTZ @ The Museum catalog of programs, ARTZ @ the Barnes, as it was then called, invited participants to enjoy shared experiences at the Barnes, home to one of the world’s great collections of modern European paintings, with numerous works by Renoir, Cézanne, Matisse, Picasso, Van Gogh, and Modigliani. The Barnes also became one of our museum venues for our arts and dementia mentoring program for health professions students based at Thomas Jefferson University,  launched in 2016.

We are delighted to be returning to the galleries of the Barnes with our ARTZ @ The Museum program starting in June, thanks to the generous support of Fountain View at Logan Square and to a renewed synergy between ARTZ Philadelphia’s mission and the Barnes’ dedication to programs focusing on the arts and creative aging.
