Volunteer with Us

We welcome and appreciate all volunteers!

Our volunteers are passionate, talented individuals and come from all walks of life. As our programs expand, we rely heavily on volunteers willing to dedicate their time and compassion to enhancing the quality of life of people living with dementia and their care partners.

Volunteer FAQ’s

  • How do I get started?

Complete a Volunteer Form and we will arrange with you to join one of our training sessions. You’ll get an overview of what dementia is and isn’t, a sense of our approach at ARTZ Philadelphia, and some time to learn and gain hands-on experience working with our program participants. After training with us, you can begin volunteering as soon as you feel comfortable.

  • When do you need volunteers?

    Weekdays In-Person

When in-person programs are active, “ARTZ on the Road,” “ARTZ @ The Museum,” and “ARTZ in the Making” programs generally take place on weekday mornings and afternoons.

    Weekends

Some special programs, like ARTZ Notes, do take place on the weekend.

    Behind The Scenes and Online

There are many opportunities for volunteering with online projects and programs and behind the scenes. Some of this work can be done any time, at your convenience — We are looking for volunteers to help with creating content for our blog and social media accounts, providing support for online programs, assisting program participants, helping out with special events, and more!

  • What kinds of volunteering opportunities are available?

Volunteer online and behind the scenes with ARTZ Philadelphia staff and Board members to help with online programs, or organize, promote, and communicate about our services. Or, a combination of the two, help out both remotely via your computer and in-person.

Volunteer Face to Face with residents living with dementia in care communities, during hands-on art-making and/or arts-based conversation programs. Make a direct impact on the quality of participants’ daily lives by listening, attending, and engaging.

Volunteer in-person in museums and art centers during “ARTZ @ the Museum.” Connect with program participants person to person, encourage and “echo” their contributions to group conversations.

Check out the Volunteer Roles section below to explore the options further

  • Where do your programs take place?

Programs take place at partnering day centers, care communities, arts centers, museums, and other cultural centers throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.

We are engaged in community-based projects in Hunting Park and Northwest Philadelphia and hope to expand to other neighborhoods in South and West Philadelphia.

Our online programs take place via Zoom and behind-the-scenes work can often be completed remotely, from wherever you are located.

Please check out our partners page for regularly updated information on partner locations.

Some programs combine both online and in-person events.
