About the Event
Join us November 5th at 5:30 pm (ET) for a special gala at The Waterfall Room, 2791 Southampton Rd, Phila, 19154
Imagine a world in which a diagnosis of dementia no longer sentences individuals and families to lives of silent desperation and isolation, darkened by social stigma. Imagine that it comes instead with the assurance “you can live well, creatively, and joyfully, and keep connecting with others, and we will help you to do just that.”
We need you to join us in making this vision a reality.
On November 5th, we will be celebrating the power of joyful interactions around the arts to enhance the lives of people affected by dementia; and we will be honoring Neville Strumpf, PhD, FAAN for her trailblazing legacy as an aging-with-dignity advocate, and Mindy Mozenter, CSA for her extraordinary partnership, collaboration, and support of the ARTZ Philadelphia community.
Neville Strumpf, PhD, FAAN, is Professor Emerita, University of Pennsylvania, where she led for many years the School of Nursing’s highly ranked Gerontology Nurse Practitioner Program. She was also the founding director of the John A. Hartford Foundation’s Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence at Penn. With colleague Dr. Lois Evans, Dr. Strumpf led groundbreaking research on restraint free care and was a tireless advocate for quality of life for frail older adults, many of whom, along with their caregivers, live with dementia. Dr. Strumpf also served as Board President of Ralston Center, leading an effort to transform it into the Sarah Ralston Foundation, which provides grants to not for profit organizations in Philadelphia serving the needs of vulnerable elders. Dr. Strumpf has received numerous honors and awards, published widely, consulted nationally and internationally, and was selected in 2022 as a Distinguished Daughter of Pennsylvania.
Mindy Mozenter is a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) and has been working in the healthcare industry for almost 40 years. For the last two decades, Mindy has been working closely with older adults and their families. She currently works with Senior Living Specialists to help older adults find their next home, whether in Independent Living, Assisted Living or Memory Care. She is also an active member of the Board of Directors of Penn’s Village, a community-based membership organization in central Philadelphia that assists older adults to live independently in their own homes, and sits on the board of ARTZ Philadelphia. Mindy prides herself on being a trusted advisor to all of the older adults and families she serves.
