About the Event

Join us Tuesday, April 26th via Facebook Live at 10:00 am (EDT) for our Music in the Neighborhood program featuring Featuring Stroke Strings artists Jack Drummond & Tauhida Smith.

Stroke Strings – was founded in 2012 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This amazingly talented collaboration of two violinists (and originally, a cellist) formulated as a music fellowship group. Today, this dynamic equation of strings has evolved into a familiar name and sound in the city of Brotherly Love & Sisterly Affection/ Action.  Specializing in all genres of music, this String duet (comprised of all classically trained musicians) uses its education, personalities, experience, and overall love for music to create mind-blowing eargasms.

Jack Drummond, the voice of STROKE, is a classically trained violinist who serves as the co-lead of the group. Her determination, education, personality, and artistic abilities continue to drive the String Trio to achieve limitless success.

Tauhida Smith, the heart of STROKE, is a contemporary & classically trained violinist. Her leadership abilities coupled with extraordinary skills and tonality on the violin has developed the overall sound of STROKE.

Stroke Strings focuses on community empowerment (especially for urban youth) in Philadelphia and surrounding areas. Its members serve as mentors and teachers in the community. They use the power of Strings to encourage and motivate people through sound and soul. By giving back to its community, STROKE is much more than a String Group, it’s a way of life.

ARTZ Music in the Neighborhood program is a new program that has been launched thanks to the generous sponsorship of Acadia Pharmaceuticals Inc. a biopharmaceutical company headquartered in San Diego, California. It is a monthly program, with various musical artists from the community performing in the Northwest and Hunting Park neighborhoods of Philadelphia, and virtually as a component of our ARTZ in the Neighborhood project hosted by ARTZ Philadelphia.
