ARTZ Philadelphia Participates in Second Chances Event at Lehigh University

ARTZ Philadelphia Founder and Executive Director Susan Shifrin recently presented at a day-long, interactive, collaborative event — “Second Chances: Creative Caregiving Through the Arts” — co-hosted by Lehigh University Art Galleries (LUAG) and United Way of Greater Lehigh Valley. In addition to speaking in the morning to a group of professional and family care partners, Susan teamed up with ARTZ Philly’s longtime Woodmere collaborator Hildy Tow, The Robert L. McNeil, Jr. Curator of Education, who led a workshop on hands-on art-making projects for people living with dementia that built on a short “ARTZ @ The Museum” session that Susan facilitated.

This interactive program introduced research and real-world examples of how creative expression can support the well-being of individuals living with dementia and their care partners. Designed for caregivers and service providers, the presentation included case studies, and a sample arts-based experience.
