ARTZ Director Named PA Humanities Council 2026 “Window Keeper”

The PA Humanities Council has announced that ARTZ founder and Executive Director Susan Shifrin has been named one of this year’s cohort of “Window Keepers.” According to the Humanities Council’s Web site, “The Window Keeper: Civic Honors is a statewide initiative that recognizes Pennsylvanians whose everyday actions help shape strong communities and sustain civic life through the power of the humanities. Window Keepers are everyday Pennsylvanians who help sustain civic life through acts of service, care, connection, and education.”

Susan joins 29 other “Window Keepers”  in the newest cohort, representing 21 counties across Pennsylvania and reflecting the many ways people use the humanities to bring people together and create positive change. The first cohort of 25 Window Keepers was selected to mark the semiquincentennial of the United States’ founding. All Window Keepers were nominated by someone in their community.
