About The Event

Our mission at ARTZ Philadelphia has always been to bring people together. We make it possible for people who have become isolated from friends and family because of the stigmas attached to Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias to connect with each other through interactions around arts and culture. And music has proven through research and experience to be our most lasting source of connection to the people and world around us.

In July of 2020, we launched our new online music program "ARTZ Notes." This program is all about shared experiences, the joys of music-making and -listening in company with others. We invite you to a very special event that will support "ARTZ Notes" and other programs like it.

Join us on December 5 at 7:30pm for "MUSIC IN THE KEY OF CONNECTION" -- a fundraiser for ARTZ Philadelphia that is all about those same shared, joyful experiences.

The harmony of voices raised together in song. The sweet “Philadelphia sound” of classical strings. Rhythms calling people to joyful movement across cultures. The indefatigable inspiration of jazz (“undefeated jazz!” as our friend Warren Oree always says).

By purchasing a ticket, you yourself  will benefit from the kinds of experiences you’ll be making possible for others – enjoying music in company with others  from the comfort of your own home.

Alex Shaw, Alexandra Cutler-Fetkewicz, Alex Levin, Keisha Hutchins Hirlinger, and Erik Dutko will present live music from Brazilian vocals and percussion to classical violin to jazz piano, from original songs and covers to virtuoso guitar and more.

MUSIC IN THE KEY OF CONNECTION is our first fundraiser of 2020. We made the decision in April to suspend all formal fundraising efforts, recognizing that too many of our community members were suffering physically, emotionally, and financially as a result of the COVID pandemic and the overwhelming distress in neighborhoods across our nation. But music is a source of joy and of connection with others and so we invite you to purchase tickets to this live-streamed concert to support the efforts we have made since March – and will continue to make into 2021 – to provide human and creative connection for people whose worlds have narrowed to almost no personal contact or connection at all.
